Tuesdays Tasteful Tidbit

I have abandoned my weekly post already, and this is only the third Tuesday since I began my weekly message. But this week is a real Tasty Tidbit:

Artichokes

what you need:
  • Artichokes
  • Pair of scissors
  • Pot of water
  • Stove
what to do:
  • Cut off the spikes on the artichokes with the scissors
  • Boil the artichokes whole
  • After the artichokes are soft take them out of the water
  • Peel the leaves off individually and dip them in the sauce of your choice: Butter, Lemon Juice, hollandaise sauce, mayonaise, or vinegar (we chose melted butter because it's so great)

It's a great snack. Seriously, it sounds strange but Ingrid introduced them to me and Nathan the other day and we each ate a whole artichoke!

P.S. be sure to take out the inedible "choke" before you get to the heart of the artichoke. It's purple and doesn't look too tasty, so I'm sure you won't miss it.

This is the remains of the artichoke. The purple stuff is the "choke" it has spikes from the flower that is actually a thistle so you really don't want to eat it.
